Overview
The MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Scholarship is the Japanese Government's flagship scholarship for international students. It covers all costs including tuition, monthly living allowance, and return airfare. MEXT scholars also receive 6 months of Japanese language training before starting their degree.

Eligibility Criteria
Indian citizen under 35 years. GPA 2.3/3.0 or higher. Willingness to learn Japanese. Good health. Bachelor's degree for research students. 12 years of schooling for undergraduate students. Not enrolled in another Japanese scholarship.
How to Apply
Apply through the Japanese Embassy in India (Embassy Recommendation) or through a Japanese university (University Recommendation). Embassy route: written exam + interview at Embassy. University route: apply directly to university which nominates you. Covers undergraduate, master's, PhD, and research programs.
